PART 2
EXCURSIONS:
CAIRO
The Cairo Tower is worth the walk from the Marriott. It stands at 614 ft. Here you will have a 360 panoramic view of Cairo and on a clear day you can see the pyramids. It costs 250 EGP (approx. $5). Beware, if you want to take up a camera (Nikon, Cannon, Sony etc) they will charge you an extra 300 EGP.
IPhones are OK. We visited several incredible markets. One market, besides a multitude of fresh spices they had clothes, gifts, pumice stones, hibiscus flowers and dome nuts for tea. We were served these teas at the hotels. They were delicious!
Our first excursion included the Great Pyramids, Sphinx of Giza and camel rides. The great pyramid was built in the 4th dynasty for the Pharaoh Khufu. The sphinx, the head of a human and body of a lion, was carved from of one large piece of limestone.
