PART 1

This was the vacation of a life time! What a remarkable, idyllic and mystical land to visit from its rich history to the archaeological treasures.

First and foremost, I’d like to put everyone’s concerns to rest. The cities we visited were extremely safe (Cairo, Luxor and Aswan).  There were several hundred tourists at the pyramids, Valley of the Kings and various tombs and temples. Unfortunately, approximately 80% of our tour group canceled their trip. What a shame! They missed an amazing trip. It did however make for an intimate and close knit group for the nine of us.

The locals were extremely friendly and helpful. Everywhere you went, even just passing in the street, they always said “Welcome to Egypt”.

There are no rules of the road. The lines are decoration only. They beep their horns to let you know they are passing you.                                                                                  To cross the road you make eye contact with the driver to let him know you are crossing. One day, on our way back from running errands, a gentleman saw we were waiting to cross. He walked into the middle of the road, stopped traffic and assisted us across.

My holiday was in April. The average daytime temperature was between 90 and 100.

The full moon over the Nile was the icing on the cake!!!
